FINNISH OPEN 2022

Welcome to play pickleball in our 4th Pickleball Finnish Open Tournament on 28th–29th May, 2022. The venue will be Targa Arena, a modern high-class racquet sport center in Espoo, just 20 mins from Helsinki center. The events will be Women's and Men's Singles and Doubles as well as Mixed Doubles in various skill level categories. The deadline for registration is Sunday 15th May, 2022.

Tournament details:

• Dates: 28th–29th May, 2022 (schedule will be confirmed later)

• Deadline for registration: Sunday 15th May, 2022

• Tentative schedule:

  • Saturday 28th May (starting at 9.00am)

    • Opening of the tournament

    • Doubles 3.5–3.0

    • Doubles 4.0+

    • Medal Ceremony for Doubles events

    • Mixed Doubles 3.5–3.0

    • Mixed Doubles 4.0+

    • Medal ceremony for Mixed Doubles

    • Tournament dinner, buffet-style (Scandic Hotel Espoo, Nihtisillantie 1, price 42 €/pers., incl. welcome drink & dessert)

  • Sunday 29th May (starting at 9.00am)

    • Men's Singles 3.5–3.0 

    • Men's Singles 4.0+

    • Medal ceremony for Singles events

    • Closing of the tournament

• Minimum five (5) players/teams per event

• Minimum 4 matches guaranteed for each player/team

• Minimum age of player is 18 yrs

• Tournament format will be announced after registration has ended and may vary per event

• Tournament fees:

  • registration + one event = 40 €

  • two events = 60 €/player

  • three events = 75 €/player

  • tournament buffet dinner (on 28th May) at Scandic Hotel Espoo, incl. welcoming drink = 42 €

• Tournament ball: Penn 40 (yellow, USAPA approved)

• The tournament will be played on tennis courts (GreenSet Comfort surface)

• The organizer has the right to combine or cancel events and categories if insufficient entries. Based on the number of participants and if certain events are being canceled completely, the tournament may also be a one day event (Sat. 28th May).

 

​Please sign up as soon as possible, deadline for registration is Sunday 15th May, 2022. If player cancels their registration after 16th May, the registration and event fees will not be refunded. However, the fee for a specific event may be refunded if a partner can't be found for a player in event registered, or if the tournament must be canceled based on Covid restrictions by the authorities, or other force majeure reasons.

• Your registration for the tournament is valid only after you've paid the tournament fees. You will get an automatic confirmation email after your payment

• Please try to confirm your playing partner already before sending your registration. Tell your partner's name in the registration form. This procedure saves a lot of time and unnecessary payment refunds

• Please note that each player must register separately

• If your intention is play in more than one event, please register to all of them at the same time. The sofware does not allow registrations and payments made one by one for each event. Please contact tournaments@pickleballfinland.fi for more info

• Even though you wouldn't have partner(s) beforehand, you are still welcome to register. We will try to find  partner(s) for you.

Tournament venue:

​

Targa Arena (Ullanmäentie 21, Espoo) is located near the border of Kauniainen city, only 20 mins from Helsinki center. Targa Arena has a small café and pro shop, chancing rooms with saunas and very friendly staff. Easy access by commuter trains (Koivuhovi station, 700 m walk) e.g. from Helsinki, by bus (Kauniainen center, 1 km walk) or by car (lots of free parking space). More info about public transportation.

Accommodation:

We have negiotiated an affordable deal with Scandic Hotel Espoo (Nihtisillantie 1, about 3 km from the venue). Prices (available 26th–30th May):

• Single room = 75 €/night

• Double room = 95 €/night

• Triple room = 115 €/night, based on availability.
